I love coffee. When I was younger, I would wake up early in the morning and drink a few sips of my dad’s coffee before he left for work. It was love at first sip. Ever since high school, I’ve been an avid coffee drinker. Once I began college, I started drinking coffee every morning. I wouldn’t say I’m addicted, but I also don’t want to live without it. Recently, my coffee-drinking world has been turned upside down with the surging popularity of “cold-brew coffee”.
Much like my original love of coffee, my dad introduced cold brew coffee to me. He saw an article that explained that cold brew coffee was not only more rich tasting, but also easier on your stomach.
My gracious family bought me a cold brew coffee system for Christmas last year. The product design wasn’t complete at the time and the company had to redo the design. Then there were a few shipping problems that caused me to wait almost a year to get it in my hands, but it was well worth the wait. Honestly, the system just looks like a black, foot-and-a-half tall hour glass. It’s extremely easy to use:
1. Put in coffee grounds
2. Fill with cold water
3. Then wait. It has to “brew” for 24 – 48 hours, so if you want coffee, you’ll need to plan ahead.
The coffee extract that you are provided with is so strong that you only put 3 oz. in your cup and then fill the rest of the cup with water.
You’re probably wondering why we are telling you about cold brew coffee. You may have seen places like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts start selling cold brew coffee, and we are here to tell you that you need to try it! As photographers, we spend 8-10 hours photographing weddings, so on our drive to weddings (or even portrait sessions- just because we want an excuse to drink coffee), we drink cold brew coffee! It's also perfect for editing sessions at home!
