Marriage Monday: Date Your Spouse

We’ve all heard it as a reminder “date your spouse”. But what exactly does that mean? It can mean a lot of different things, but we feel like it means intentionally spending quality time together.

We are “together” a lot.

We eat dinner together every night. We spend some of our evenings where I’m on the love seat, Mitchel is on the couch, we are in the same room together. But dating your spouse might look like doing something different or showing that you care about them.

Back in college, dates consisted of sitting together in a dorm lobby or apartment living room doing homework together and watching Shark Tank on Friday nights. (We know, we were party animals. haha) We have always loved spending time together. Even just doing everyday, mundane things. We are simple and easy to please.

That hasn’t changed about us.

These days, dates look pretty similar. This past Saturday it was as simple as going to free yoga in the park on a chilly night, followed by hot chocolate and coffee from QT, and then walking around downtown Pendleton to see festive scarecrows and Halloween decor. It costed us all of $3 to have a few fun hours together. It was a good reminder for us that things don’t have to be extravagant or glamorous for us to have fun together! It’s the little things!

We encourage you to see out little ways like these to spend time with your spouse doing something you might not normally do together! Do a quick Google search for events in your community and go together! Especially with halloween coming up! You never know what you might find!
