Marriage Monday: Date Box!

We are all about finding ways to spend quality time together in ways that don’t always cost tons of money. For example, we love to try new things and exploring our town. The problem is, we don’t want to spend half our paycheck going out on a date.

Let’s do some math. Say you went out to a decent restaurant (not McDonald’s or Taco Bell). You’re going to spend AT LEAST $25. After dinner, you have to go out for ice cream! (Katie always wants ice cream after going out to dinner….or any meal for that matter). There is another $5-10.

If you want to go to the movies, you might as well stop by the bank to take out a loan before you go. Be prepared to spend another $25.

You’re looking at spending well over $50, and that’s assuming you don’t buy snacks at the movie.

If you’re like us, you want to have a date at least once every week or two. With life as crazy as it is, it’s nice to be able to stop what you’re doing and go reconnect with your spouse.

Enter a solution: DateBox!

It’s exactly what it sounds like – a date in a box!

DateBox is one of the coolest things we’ve seen in a long time. All you do is go to their website, sign up, and give them a little info about you and your significant other. Then on the 15th of every month, you’ll get a special box with a pre-planned date in a box.

We had the pleasure of trying one of these out ourselves for free, and we loved it! We saved it for a special day where we had time to relax.

Our box included:

  • Star charts

  • Chocolate

  • Marshmallows

  • Sprinkles

  • Rice Krispie Treats

  • Tea Light Candle

  • Fondue Kit

  • Cards with Questions (draw a card every time you dip in the chocolate or drop something in the chocolate)

We put an old blanket out in the backyard, turned on the specially crafted Spotify playlist that came with the box, and then chowed down on some yummy s’more krispy treats. After we were stuffed with all the sweets, we layed back on the blanket to look at the stars.

Sure, it was cloudy and we could barely see them, but we tried. We got the star charts out and tried our hardest to pinpoint some of those constellations (with zero luck). It was still so much fun even though we weren’t great at pointing them out.

This was one of the best, cheap dates we’ve had in a long time. There is something so special about staying at your own home and making a date out of something simple.

Nothing fancy or elaborate. Just you and your significant other reconnecting.

If you were wondering, you can get a digital only version of DateBox for $7.99 a month. It’s less than you pay for Netflix, plus it helps you spend time with your love bug.

We reached out to Datebox and told them about our commitment to couples and cheap dates, and they gave us a little promo code to share with anyone who wants to give it a shot.

If you want a fun and cheap date idea (with no work required) – use our coupon code: MJAYNES50

You’ll get 50% off your first box! Why not give it a shot? Let us know if you try it!
