We both have been on a huge “shop small” kick here recently. We’ve been going to more community events and exploring our city. Now, we’re just as quick as the other 99% of people who buy everything on Amazon (it’s hard to beat 2-day shipping), but we’re trying to change our ways.
We love our town. Anderson has become our home and we want to see it thrive and flourish as much as possible. It’s hard for us to talk about how great Anderson is and how much we love it, if we aren’t supporting it ourselves.
As owners of a “small business” (I hate that term), we want to help others trying to create a brand and gain customers, just like we are trying to do. We went downtown several weeks ago for a block party. We enjoyed some live music, dancing, and food trucks. It was a great time. When we left, we decided to check out a local board game shop. We have passed it a million times, and we decided to see what was going on inside. It was a fun, safe place for people to try out new board games and to meet new people. We loved talking to the staff and getting to hear their stories.
This past weekend, we ventured into City Seed at the Station in Anderson on the day they opened. We fell in love. We got to talk to the owners, walk around and look at all the goodies, and buy a succulent and plant it.
Both of us have a love of plants, but we know almost nothing about taking care of them. We want to have house plants and a garden, but we know we will kill just about anything we touch.
City Seed had everything from pre-potted plants to the tools and seeds you need to become a master gardener. On top of that, they also offer plant potting classes and more. What’s not to love about this place?
We may not have a massive photography business, but we know the struggles of striving to attract new clients and the work that comes with starting a new business. You doubt a lot of your decisions and you never know what’s going to happen.
If there is one thing this photography business has taught us, it’s to help those who are carving their own path and have started their own business, and we hope you’ll do the same!
