Alyssa and Mikas were married Saturday at the beautiful First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, with a fabulous reception at The Big Chill. Alyssa and Mikas are quite the couple. Everyone who knows Alyssa knows her for her genuine kindness, incredible work ethic, and passion for her career in medicine. Mikas even told one of the pastors that he has heard everyone say it, but he had a front row seat to seeing that Alyssa truly is the hardest working person he knows. Those who know Mikas know him for his love of his two cats, his wit, and his smarts!
What have been some struggles in your marriage? How did you overcome them?
Learning how to communicate. Learning that my way isn’t the only way to do things. Learning the importance of putting God first individually and in our marriage. We’ve overcome all of them through just doing life together, support of church community, and a Bible – teaching church.
Traveling is so much fun, and it’s even better with your spouse by your side! Recently, we were able to travel to Italy! The most dreaded part, flying of course. Not necessarily the act of flying, but the 4 different plane rides we took from Greenville, to Philly, to London, to Pisa; and not to mention the layovers in the airports.
Ah, prom! The good ole’ days! I just love getting to take prom and cotillion pictures of my favorite high schoolers each year! It reminds me of the excitement and fun revolving around school dances!
And I just love getting to see the girls and guys all dressed up! The girls had some of the most gorgeous
Morgan and Brian have been together since high school, and they both grew up in Anderson! We took their engagement photos at the Clemson Botanical Gardens, which is where they took prom pictures together back in high school! I always love it when couples pick a spot that has meaning or sentimental value to them!
How long have you been married?
1 year and 1 day!
Tell us your love story! How did you meet?
We met at a mutual friend’s house. After a few run-ins through friends, Brent asked for my number and we went out on our first date. We went on a couple of dates and I (Ali) decided we were better off as friends. I didn’t really have a reason, mostly just fear of the unknown. About 6 months later, I ran into Brent again at the same mutual friend’s house. He was kind and talkative towards me, when I thought he had every right to be standoffish and rude. I knew that I needed to reach back out. After a few awkward texts, we went out on another “first” date. The rest is history. 🙂
Adam proposed in their new home, on the day that they closed on their brand new house that they built! So sweet and special that they get to have that memory in their home for years to come!
This wedding was in the Columbia, SC area at the cutest southern, charming venue in Gilbert, SC called Southern Oaks. I second shot this wedding for H Proctor Photography and loved getting to shoot with her again! The couple was so fun and everything was just gorgeous. I especially loved the fuchsia colored bridesmaid dresses and the navy suits! The chapel where the wedding ceremony was held is brand new and so beautiful! Enjoy some of my favorites!
We hope that you enjoy and are encouraged and inspired in your own marriage from Katie’s Grandparent’s marriage story!
A few months ago when we found out Mitchel’s dad was going to be in Italy again for work, I knew then, I really wanted to go! I wasn’t sure if it would work out because we weren’t sure how long Charlie would be in Italy. And, Mitchel came to Italy about 12 years ago […]
