There’s something undeniably magical about Charleston weddings — the blend of Southern charm, coastal beauty, and timeless romance creates the perfect setting for a love story like McCagy and Ellie’s. Their wedding day, held on September 27, 2025, was a stunning celebration filled with emotion, laughter, and so much joy.
Ellie and her bridesmaids began their morning at The Historic Rice Mill, a beloved Charleston venue perched right on the harbor. The bridal suite buzzed with excitement as hair and makeup were perfected and champagne glasses clinked. The windows filled the room with soft natural light — the kind that makes everything feel calm and radiant all at once.
One of the most touching moments of the day came when Ellie and McCagy shared their first look and private vows to each other. They met in the room overlooking the marina, where the water shimmered in the afternoon sun. The emotions were raw and genuine — happy tears, quiet laughter, and the kind of look between two people that says this is it.
Afterward, we stepped outside by the waterfront for portraits. It was a warm day, but the slight breeze off the water kept everyone cool as the wedding party joined in for photos full of energy and excitement. With the backdrop of boats and blue skies, every image felt quintessentially Charleston — elegant yet relaxed, refined yet full of heart. It was gorgeous!
The ceremony took place at Sullivan’s Island Baptist Church. The couple knew they wanted a church ceremony, a meaningful spot to exchange their vows surrounded by family and friends. As Ellie walked down the aisle, the room fell silent, and the emotion from their first look carried beautifully into their heartfelt ceremony.
Once they said “I do,” it was time to celebrate back at The Rice Mill — and what a celebration it was! Guests enjoyed cocktails and yard games, overlooking the marina before heading inside for dinner, dancing, and all the fun that comes with a Charleston evening reception. The historic brick walls, soft candlelight, and views of the harbor created the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable night.
Ellie’s thoughtfulness and appreciation of their guests was so apparent in her surprise to her guests when they entered the reception…..a heartfelt display of guests wedding photos in black and white, framed in beautiful gold frames. She worked so hard to collect wedding photos without guests knowing so that she could honor them with a display she called “Remember that feeling?”. I knew about this surprise for her guests, but when Ellie told me she included a photo of Mitchel and I, I cried! What a sweet gesture from sweet Ellie to honor guests and even vendors on HER big day!
From start to finish, McCagy and Ellie’s wedding day reflected who they are — joyful, gracious, and deeply in love. It was a day filled with meaning, emotion, and the kind of moments that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Wright! Your Charleston wedding was truly one for the books! We just adore you two!
