Walhalla St. John’s Meeting Place & Walhalla Depot Wedding

Stephanie and Roger were married in Walhalla, SC at the St. John’s Meeting Place with a reception a block away at the Walhalla Depot. Their intimate, family-only wedding consisted of around 22 of their most favorite people. Originally, they planned to get married in San Antonio, with a big Texas wedding!

Even though they had to cancel their large wedding, their small, intimate wedding turned out just perfectly, with little touches of San Antonio right here in SC. Stephanie’s mom and stepdad live in Seneca, so Stephanie decided to get married not far from where they live, in Walhalla.

The chapel and depot were the most adorable backdrop for their wedding day. The chapel was built in the late 1800s and it is just beautiful!

Stephanie and Roger actually met about a year ago, online. I loved hearing the stories from Stephanie’s friends about when she first met the “Pennsylvania Lawyer”. They talked for a while and were just friends for a bit, but apparently Stephanie loved talking to him and getting to know him. She even would listen to him as he told her about other online dates he had been on that weren’t so great, because, as they said, they were “just friends” at the time.

Of course, they realized there was more to their relationship, and weeks later, they officially started dating.

Right before Stephanie and Roger’s first look at Lake Hartwell in Seneca, Stephanie’s mom, bridesmaids, and best friends from San Antonio prayed with her. I loved getting to photograph that sweet moment.

I asked Roger if he was nervous right before the first look. He said, “no, I’m ready!” I loved that! So eager to see his bride! Stephanie also seemed excited and ready to see him.

The day was lovely in weather and sentiment. Roger and Stephanie made sure that it was a day that was honoring to the Lord and it truly was a worshipful day. It was also casual and fun, full of sweet moments with a few of their closest family and friends together, and we just loved that Stephanie and Roger made it a point to include those who could not attend.

Stephanie hired our videographer, Jeff to film the ceremony and have a same-day upload in a private Facebook group for the people out of town to view at the end of the night. They also had Steph’s dad, and Roger’s parents pre-record virtual toasts to be shown at the reception. During their dinner, they were able to do a Zoom call with several family and friends as well. It is so evident that they love their people, and that they are very loved as well!

Roger and Stephanie, we were honored to be your photographers and wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.
