Coastal Wedding at Edisto Island | Mr. & Mrs. Richardson

Navy and Sunflower Edisto Island Wedding

Dayna and Mike were married in the beautiful Edisto Island, SC. Edisto is one of my favorite beaches in South Carolina, because of its charm, simplicity, and slowness. Their wedding took place overlooking the marsh, on a family-friend’s property. Dayna used to babysit the family’s grandchildren and has fond memories of Edisto.

The couple met through Dayna’s friend Taylor, who set them up. She told them both that they just had to meet because they are both so sarcastic and would be a perfect match. At the time, Dayna was living in St. Augustine, FL for grad school and Mike was in Columbia, SC.
They talked about a month on the phone and texting, and then he drove there to meet her. Their first date was the Captain Marvel movie and eating out at a Mexican restaurant.

From their demeanor and interactions on the wedding day, I think it’s safe to say that both Dayna and Mike are pretty easy going. They both enjoyed the morning with their separate wedding party’s and had a calm morning.

The Wedding Day in Edisto Island

Dayna and Mike shared their vows privately at the beginning of the day, as the sun rose over Botany Bay. I got to see a few shots they took on their phones, and oh my goodness, it looked so beautiful and I know it was a sweet time for them to get to share privately.

When we arrived at their wedding venue, we went straight to the bridal suite, where Dayna and her girls were having hair and makeup done and just enjoyed being together. Mike and his guys arrived about an hour later and were so much fun!

We took photos of Mike and his groomsmen, and oh are they jokesters. Such a fun group! Then we hid Mike away and Dayna shared a sweet first look with her 3 brothers, overlooking the water, with her mom looking-on at their reactions to how beautiful Dayna looked!

We finished up some portraits of Dayna and her bridesmaids before we hid Dayna away from guests beginning to arrive for the ceremony.

Their sweet ceremony was performed by Dayna’s childhood pastor. It was so pretty, under the shade of the most beautiful mossy trees and water in the background. We were grateful for beautiful sunny weather, and unseasonably warm 80 degree temps. The day was beautifully decorated with sunflowers, mums, pumpkins, and splashes of navy blue.

After the ceremony, we took some sweet family portraits, and fun bridal party shots at the venue, and then we got to go take portraits of the bride and groom on Dayna’s favorite road in Edisto, with beautiful tree-lined covering and moss lining the trees. I love that she got to incorporate that into her wedding day.

They had a reception complete with wonderful food, time with family and friends, dancing, and a traditional Pittsburgh Cookie Tradition, my personal favorite tradition we have seen at weddings. Family members made an assortment of different cookies and had them beautifully displayed for guests to enjoy and take home.
Dayna and Mike, your day was absolutely lovely and we are so happy we got to be a part of your big day!
