Columbia SC Intimate Garden Wedding | Mr. & Mrs. Haynes

Intimate Autumn Columbia SC Wedding

Samantha Collier and Preston Haynes were married on Friday, October 4th, in beautiful Columbia, SC. Their day was perfectly intimate and breathtakingly beautiful! Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they exchanged their heartfelt “I dos” in a celebration filled with love and joy.

Just a week prior to their wedding, no one could have imagined the impact that Hurricane Helene would have on North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. Preston and Samantha had originally planned their wedding day in the stunning backdrop of Asheville, NC, but on September 27th, the hurricane brought major flooding and destruction to the area. Faced with this unforeseen circumstance, Samantha’s mom, Tricia, immediately sprang into action; making calls and coordinating plans for an alternate location. With travel to Asheville nearly impossible, the family had to quickly rethink their wedding plan.

In an incredible display of love and support, their friends and family rallied together to relocate and replan the wedding in just four short days. They ended up celebrating at a wonderfully generous family friend’s home (who just happen to be my Aunt and Uncle🤍), creating an intimate setting that, while smaller than initially planned, turned out to be an incredibly sweet and meaningful celebration. The Brazell’s home was transformed into a picturesque venue, radiating warmth and love, and the atmosphere was filled with a sense of community.

When I arrived on the wedding day, Preston was one of the first people I saw and spoke to. He radiated a sense of calm and was truly ready to get married! He shared how much he was looking forward to the day, confidently stating that he knew they would look back on this occasion fondly due to all the effort that their people had put into making it so special.

Just two days before the wedding, I spoke to Samantha on the phone. She and Preston were still without running water and power in their home, but her positivity shone through. She was singularly focused on one goal: getting married. With a heart full of gratitude, she said, “We are blessed, grateful to be safe, and so ready to be married.” I couldn’t help but admire her outlook! This unwavering positivity carried through the entire day, influencing everyone who attended the wedding.

Samantha and Preston were fully present and truly grateful to be celebrating their love surrounded by family and friends. Everyone couldn’t stop commenting on how lovely everything was—from the beautifully arranged decor and the charming ceremony site to the beautifulcross that Samantha’s brother Michael crafted for the altar, the stunning florals, and the delicious food. Each detail contributed to a magical atmosphere that reflected the couple’s love story perfectly. The joy in their eyes was evident, and it was evident that they were genuinely impressed with how everything had turned out!

As the evening unfolded, laughter and happy tears filled the air, making it a night to remember. It was a reminder that love can triumph over any challenge, and that with the support of loved ones, even the most difficult circumstances can lead to beautiful outcomes.

Samantha and Preston’s wedding was not just a celebration of their union, but also a testament to resilience, love, and community. It was a day that will be cherished in the hearts of everyone who attended, and one that will certainly be recounted for years to come.
