What a day for a wedding! Megan and Austin were married on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Evergreen Plantation in Starr, SC, just outside of Anderson.
This day was special for many reasons, other than the obvious, it is Megan and Austin’s wedding day! It was also Megan’s birthday, Father’s Day, and National Sea Turtle Day!
It was also the same day that Megan’s great grandmother was married back in 1928. Megan also wore her great grandmother’s wedding ring. Her aunt gave it to her with her birthstone put on it for her 16th birthday. Wow! So much significance in their day!
After their first look, I heard that it was Megan’s birthday and shouted “OH MY GOSH MEGAN HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!” Even through all of our contact in the weeks prior to the wedding, she never let on that her wedding day was also her birthday!
Seriously, that’s the coolest day to throw a big party! Daniel, Austin’s brother joked during his best man speech that he better never, not even for once second think that he will ever get away with just ONE present for Megan for her birthday/their anniversary!
Megan and Austin met at Erskine College. Megan played volleyball and Austin played golf there.
He proposed in Falls Park, right in the heart of Greenville. Megan gave him a gift during their first look, a hand-painted Bible that would be their family Bible. Gosh, it was gorgeous and so sentimental.
The day was absolutely gorgeous! We first “met” Megan and Austin through a FaceTime call about a month before the wedding. We knew immediately that they were easy going and so kind just from our 20-minute call.
On their wedding day, they were no different. Still so kind, joyful, and easy going the entire day. They were surrounded by a big wedding party full of family and friends who are HUGE fans of them! Both of their families were awesome as well, traveling into SC from all over!
The day went smoothly and Megan and Austin seemed to soak in every moment. The girls got ready at the bridal cottage while the guys hung out and got ready at the lodge. The guys even hit some golf balls before the ceremony in their tuxes!
Megan and Austin shared an intimate first look complete with huge smiles and a few tears and then were prayed over by Megan’s father. I couldn’t hear the prayer since I was a ways back, but I was teary just thinking about how sweet the moment was for them to have together.
Then Megan gifted Austin with their hand-painted family Bible. It was gorgeous!
The ceremony was outdoors under beautiful oak trees, facing out toward a pond a field of grass. It was heartfelt and officiated by a coach of theirs from Erskine.
One of Megan’s friends sang as she walked down the aisle to Austin and then again when they tied the unity cords. Another friend from Erskine gave a few words about how Megan and Austin came to know each other and some sweet memories of the two of them.
I loved how personalized and special the ceremony was.
The reception was a fun time with bbq and all the sides from Creekside BBQ in Anderson and of course, the US Open was on the big screen later on in the reception.
Megan and Austin, thank you so much for allowing us to photograph your day! Everything was beautiful and we loved meeting you and witnessing the sweet start to your marriage! We hope you guys are having a blast in the NC mountains on your honeymoon!
