Greer Wedding Venues: Hidden Gems in Upstate SC

Greer Wedding Venues: Hidden Gems in Upstate SC

When couples think of wedding venues in upstate South Carolina, Greenville usually comes to mind first. But after photographing weddings across the region, Mitchel and I have discovered something that the crowds haven’t quite figured out yet: Greer is quietly becoming one of the best-kept secrets for distinctive, affordable wedding venues.

Greer sits right between Greenville and Spartanburg—about twenty minutes from either downtown—with a walkable, beautifully restored historic district and pockets of real countryside on its edges. It’s close enough to plenty of hotels and restaurants, but far enough that you get genuine character without big-city pricing. In fact, Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is essentially in Greer, so out-of-town guests are often just ten or fifteen minutes from your venue.

The venues here lean two directions: lovingly restored historic spaces in downtown Greer Station, and a handful of true farm and countryside settings just outside the center of town. Both photograph beautifully, and because Greer flies under the radar, you’re not competing with fifty other weddings for the same Saturday in October.

Let’s talk about why Greer matters for your wedding, and which venues deserve your attention.

Why Choose Greer?

Greer sits in that sweet spot where you get Upstate charm without destination-wedding logistics. Your guests fly into GSP—which is right there in Greer—and they’re at most venues within fifteen minutes. Many stay in Greenville or Spartanburg (both have plenty of hotels, restaurants, and bars), then make a short, easy drive in. It’s seamless.

The venues here emphasize what makes Greer special: a genuinely historic, walkable downtown with restored century-old buildings, plus real farms and open countryside on the outskirts. You’re not paying for a slicked-up event space—you’re renting spaces with actual history and character.

Greer gives us real range. Downtown, we have exposed brick, hardwood floors, big windows, and a charming streetscape steps from the door. Out in the countryside, we have barns, open fields, mountain views, and golden-hour light across the hills. The small-town energy means fewer crowds, fewer distractions, and more time to capture the real moments.

A Few Greer Venues We Love

L & B Farms

If you want the true barn-and-pasture wedding, L & B Farms is Greer’s anchor for it. It’s a family-owned-and-tended working farm, and that authenticity shows. The barn seats up to about 200 guests inside and features rustic sliding doors, chandeliers, and a covered porch and bar that’s perfect for cocktail hour, while the surrounding grounds open things up for larger or outdoor celebrations.

Couples consistently praise the owners’ helpfulness and reasonable pricing—and there’s a generous collection of decor left from past weddings that you’re welcome to use. For a barn wedding without the inflated barn-venue price tag, this is the one.

Through our lens: the open pastures give us 360-degree ceremony options and that genuine “we got married somewhere real” feeling, and the barn’s interior has warm, character-filled light for receptions.

  • Style: Rustic barn / working farm
  • Capacity: Up to ~200 indoors (more on the grounds)
  • Address: 4196 Donahue Rd, Greer, SC 29651
  • Contact: (864) 303-6138 | landbfarmsllc.com

The Atkin

For couples who want countryside and mountain views, The Atkin is a scenic, open-air venue on the edge of Greer. It pairs an open-air reception space (with a bar and fireplace) and an outdoor ceremony site complete with arbor, benches, and wide-open fields—all framed by sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

It’s flexible on size, handling everything from intimate gatherings to large celebrations, and it’s an easy drive from both downtown Greer and Greenville.

Through our lens: the mountain backdrop and big open sky give us dramatic, layered portraits, and the fireplace in the reception space adds a cozy anchor for evening shots.

  • Style: Open-air countryside with mountain views
  • Capacity: ~30–300
  • Address: In Greer; tours and address provided by appointment through Greer Event Rentals

Historic Greer Depot

This is the showpiece of downtown Greer: a railway depot built in 1913 and beautifully restored in 2021. Inside you get a versatile, vintage-industrial space (seating up to roughly 290), and outside there’s a rose garden area perfect for an intimate ceremony, cocktail hour, or photos.

It runs largely all-inclusive, which takes a lot of stress off planning—rental typically includes a wedding arch, dimmable lighting, a photo area, ADA-accessible entrance and restrooms, a catering kitchen, and an on-site event director. Public parking and nearby hotels are within walking distance, and it’s about twelve minutes from GSP.

Through our lens: the restored architecture, the historical details (like the vintage baggage cart), and the rose garden give us genuine variety without leaving the property.

  • Style: Restored historic depot + rose garden
  • Capacity: Up to ~290 indoors
  • Pricing: Wedding packages have started around $6,100; the main space rents around $1,600 for four hours. Confirm current rates when you inquire.
  • Address: 300 Randall St, Suite C, Greer, SC 29651

The Davenport

For couples who love a historic downtown hall with a “make it your own” approach, The Davenport is a great fit. Set in a historic building in the heart of downtown Greer, it offers about 2,500 square feet with hardwood floors, exposed brick, and tall windows that open onto the downtown streetscape.

The big draw is flexibility: you bring your own DJ, caterer, and florist—your event, your way. It’s an especially strong choice for receptions, rehearsal dinners, and intimate weddings where you want a characterful blank canvas downtown.

Through our lens: exposed brick and hardwood are a timeless, warm backdrop, and the downtown setting means we can step right outside for streetscape portraits.

  • Style: Historic downtown event hall
  • Capacity: Flexible within ~2,500 sq ft (confirm seated capacity for your layout)
  • Address: 230 Trade St, Greer, SC 29651

Randall House

Also in historic downtown Greer, Randall House is an intimate, light-filled space with exposed brick, understated columns, high ceilings, and big windows. The main indoor space runs about 3,500 square feet and accommodates up to roughly 150 guests for a wedding (around 120 for a seated dinner), with a covered back patio, a private courtyard, and even an alleyway that works beautifully for smaller ceremonies.

It’s owned by Randall House Church and run largely by volunteers, which is how they keep the space genuinely affordable—a real plus for couples watching the budget.

Through our lens: the brick-and-window interior is gorgeous in natural light, and the courtyard and patio give us outdoor options just steps from the main room.

  • Style: Intimate historic space with courtyard and patio
  • Capacity: Up to ~150 (smaller in the alleyway/patio areas)
  • Address: 215 Randall St, Greer, SC 29651
  • Contact: randallhousegreer.com

Locust Hill Venue

For smaller, more intimate celebrations surrounded by nature, Locust Hill Venue is a warm, elegant option just minutes from both Greenville and Spartanburg. The roughly 2,000-square-foot space holds up to about 150 guests (around 130 seated) and comes set up with round and rectangular tables, cocktail tables, and a cake table, with optional setup and teardown service.

It’s a lovely fit for couples keeping things intentionally small—weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and showers all work well here.

Through our lens: the natural surroundings give us greenery and soft light for portraits, with a cozy, uncrowded feel that brings out genuine candids.

  • Style: Intimate, nature-surrounded event space
  • Capacity: Up to ~150 (≈130 seated)
  • Address: 2309 Locust Hill Rd, Greer, SC 29651

BeMi’s is Greer’s option for couples who want a polished, modern ballroom feel close to downtown. This family-owned venue offers about 8,000 square feet across two distinct spaces: The Dapper, ideal for ceremonies and cocktail hour, and The Dashing, a romantic reception space with detailed chandeliers, 20-foot ceilings, and a grand staircase. Bridal and groom suites, on-site parking, and wheelchair accessibility round it out.

This is the one Greer venue on this list we’ve personally photographed, and we can vouch for it—you can see a real wedding we shot at BeMi’s here.

Through our lens: that grand staircase and the chandeliers make for dramatic, romantic portraits, and the two-room layout gives us natural variety between ceremony and reception.
