Elegant Columbia, SC Wedding

Jake and Makayla were married at Southern Oaks Wedding Venue in Gilbert on February 19, 2021. Their wedding day was much anticipated after a covid-related postponement from their original date in September 2020.

After waiting even longer to get married, they actually had to change their wedding date from February 20th to 19th a few weeks prior to the wedding day. So to say they were happy to finally have their dream wedding was an understatement!

When Makayla reached out to me about having to postpone back in the Summer, we had just found out that we were pregnant and due within days of her new wedding date. I was sad that we wouldn’t be able to be there to photograph their day, but immediately knew who I wanted to be there in my place. My sweet friend Sara was the first and only person I could envision taking care of Makayla and Jake. Sara is amazing at what she does, and loves people so well. 

I have known Makayla and her family for over 20 years and have been friends with her older sister Katey since 2nd grade. So it was super important to me to have complete confidence in whoever was going to be shooting Makayla’s wedding in my place. Sara did not disappoint and Crissie, her second shooter, is also amazing!

Jake and Makayla have been together since their high school days. They now live in Maryland, so their wedding day was an extra special time to get to see all their friends and family from home.

Columbia, SC Wedding Day

Jake and Makayla were both relaxed and happy on the wedding day. They were both so ready to be married and were surrounded by their favorite people. Their true joy shows in the photos.

Some highlights from their day included getting ready with their bridal party, first touch and sharing letters they wrote, the sweetest ceremony, and the most fun reception with all their favorite people on the dance floor.
