We have a special guest post on the blog today for you! Allie Walker is the owner of Katharine Marie Weddings in Anderson, SC and has a plethora of knowledge about the wedding industry as a whole. As the owner of a wedding dress shop and with years of experience as a wedding coordinator, you can’t afford NOT to work with her!

She’s talking about a topic near and dear to our hearts, “why you should hire a wedding planner”. We actually wrote about this topic over a year ago. Had we known four and a half years ago that we needed a planner, maybe we wouldn’t have forgotten cake plates or maybe one of the groomsmen wouldn’t have left the ceremony venue with Mitchel’s keys in his pocket (because the planner would have had the keys instead). We did have my really awesome aunt act as our planner, and my gosh, I don’t even think our wedding would have happened without her, my mom, or my other aunt. But if I could do it over again, to relive some of the stress on them, I’d for sure hire a professional planner! So, take our advice, you need a wedding planner, and we just think that Allie Walker might just be the perfect one for you.

Congrats, You’re Engaged!

Well at least I assume you are since you’re reading this post. *wink* For most people, before they get engaged, they either have one of two thoughts about wedding planning – “I cannot wait to plan my wedding!” or “I want to elope, and plan nothing, but I know I can’t”. And then you get engaged and even for those excited to plan a wedding, the to-do list seems forever long and some of the excitement of being engaged drains away.

That, dear bride, is where your wedding planner comes in. It is my personal belief that your whole engagement season should be one of joy and excitement with as little stress as possible. There is a lot of free information online with a million different checklists, but planning your wedding is most likely something you’ve never done before and it’s something I do every single day. It is our job as wedding planners (or month-of coordinators) to think about details you wouldn’t think about and to help with some of the smaller decisions so you can focus on the bigger ones.

Another reason to hire a wedding planner (either full or month-of) is so you can have someone take care of those details on your actual wedding day. You should be surrounded by all of your favorite people getting pampered and dreaming of marrying your fiance. You don’t need to worry about whether the candles should be lit at 4p or 5p, or where the florist should park to set-up the beautiful arch they’ve created. A venue coordinator will help with some of those details, but mainly the ones to do with the physical venue (you can read more about the difference here). Your planner will be there to handle the rest.

Your wedding planner can become one of your closest friends and confidants during this process. There will be so many opinions coming your way, our job is to hear your dreams for your day and make them come to life. You’ve just spent 6-9mos+ working closely with us, and it can even be normal to feel weird about not talking to us daily after the wedding! That also means you need to pick your planner wisely. One last thing, the best thing you can do for your planner is to trust us. As I said earlier, we’re in this business everyday so share your vision and designs with us and trust our expertise to create the wedding of your dreams.
