Elegant Emerald & Gold Wedding | Mr. & Mrs. Smith

LaGrange, GA Emerald and Gold Wedding

Abby and Jamie were finally able to have their wedding celebration after postponing an entire year due to covid. Early last year, they decided to play it safe and postpone in order to keep their family and friends safe. I remember talking to Abby after they made the call to postpone and while she was sad about postponing, she knew it was the best decision for them at the time.

The new Mr. & Mrs. Smith were married in LaGrange, GA at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with a reception at the beautiful Del’avant Event Center, just across the street.

The couple met in Anderson, SC where they live and work, but decided to get married in Abby’s cute hometown.

I first met Abby back during our freshman year of college at Anderson University. I think we had an 8am freshman-level History class together, which was not the most exciting class to me. Ha! I got to meet Jamie at their engagement session over 2.5 years ago!

Then they (mostly Abby) decided she wanted to do some Fall engagement photos last year as well, which turned out so different than their Summer engagement photos. I loved that they had both of those options and so much variety in their engagement photos.

The Wedding Day

On the wedding day, it was super hot and sunny, like any Georgia Summer day. It rained right before the ceremony began and while we were inside for the ceremony. But it was clear and gorgeous the rest of the day, which was all we could have asked for!

Jamie and Abby were both relaxed and SO ready to be married! They had a beautiful Catholic ceremony and the entire day was so beautiful! Their unique ceremony-exit with dried flower confetti as they exited the church was so fun and made the best photos.

Abby had the most beautiful decor for their big day, which was emerald green, accents of gold, and black & white stripes. They even had a black & white striped aisle runner in the church that was such a bold and beautiful statement.

Abby even made all of the centerpieces for the reception tables, with Jamie’s help making and staining the wood bases. The multi-talented bride used some of the black & white photos from their engagement sessions and made them into table numbers, which I thought was so clever and perfect.

Abby and her dad shared the most unique father/daughter dance I’ve ever seen! They dance for about 60 seconds to a sweet song, and then Abby walked over to the DJ, grabbed the mic, and said “I’ve never danced with my dad before until now, so I thought we could do something I’m a little more comfortable with.”…..and she pulled out 2 gloves and a softball. She and her dad proceeded to throw the ball back and forth for the rest of the song, and I could just imagine the two of them doing that together over the years. Abby’s dad looked like he could not have been more proud. It was so special.

Abby and Jamie, we are so excited that you finally had your day and chance to be celebrated and loved on by all of your favorite people. Thanks for including us in this journey!
