Comfortable Shoes for Wedding Photographers

I’ve been to a lot of weddings through the years. In fact, we’ve shot to over 40 weddings!

Most people don’t realize how physically exhausting being a wedding photographer is. On wedding days, we spend 8 or more hours on our feet, usually running around and carrying equipment without ever sitting down.

Honestly, wedding days are the most fun, but also the most tiring for us. The day after a wedding, we schedule time to recover, if possible.

For the first couple of years of wedding photography, I wore about two dozens pairs of shoes trying to find a pair which were going to be comfortable for the whole 8 hours. No luck. 

After every single wedding (or sometimes about half way through) my feet, ankles, knees, and hips would be hurting soooo badly.

At the beginning of this year, I read about another photographer who would switch shoes half way through a wedding to “trick” her feet. Ever since then, I’ve been doing that. It might be all in my head, but it seems to help.
