2nd Anniversary Gifts Your Husband or Wife Will Love

man and woman touching noses after wedding

Fun fact, the idea of “wedding gift” traditions goes back to the mid 19th century (some people believe even longer than that). There are records of “the silver anniversary” and the “golden anniversary” way back in the 1850s. Clearly, these wedding gift traditions are not new.

But, it can still be SO hard to think of a “themed” wedding gift. Every year is something different.

It’s hard to believe that a lot of our couples are celebrating their second wedding anniversary. When we talk to them years later and we talk about anniversaries, we always get a chuckle out of hearing about their search for the first couple anniversary gifts.

Traditional 2nd Anniversary Gift

First of all, congrats on being married for 2 years! Hopefully, you’re starting to get into the swing of being married and both of you have learned how the other person likes the towels folded and the dishwasher loaded.

Now that you’ve almost made it to years, the best way to celebrate is with a cotton gift! Cotton is the traditional gift for a second wedding anniversary. I know what you’re thinking, “what in the world can I get made of COTTON?!” – well, don’t panic. It’s actually easier than you might think.

Modern 2nd Anniversary Gifts

Maybe you aren’t into the “old, traditional” ideas for anniversary presents. Fear not! There is a modern list of wedding gifts as well.

If you’re trying to think more 21st century, the modern tradition is china for 2 whole years. If you decide to go this route, your work is cut out for you. There are plenty of places to buy a nice china set. Personally, we love having a china set that we can eat on every anniversary.

2nd Anniversary Gifts for Your Husband

When we celebrated our 2nd anniversary, our cotton gifts were not the only gift we gave each other. During the first couple of years, the “traditional” gift was always just an extra gift. Normally it cost less than $20 and we gave each other something else to go with it.

“Hubby” Tshirt

Yes, I’m talking about those cheesy shirts you see on Etsy or Amazon. Look, with as many designs of t-shirts out there, there will be one that your husband would like or at least chuckle at. This might not be the only gift you give him, but it’s a great “extra” gift.

Socks (Bombas)

We are firm believers in Bombas socks. If you’ve ever listened to a podcast, you’ve probably heard an advertisement for these socks. If you haven’t tried a pair on, you’re missing out (and no this isn’t a paid ad for the company).

Here’s why we love Bombas. First, they are the most COMFORTABLE socks you’ll ever put on your feet. Do your feet a favor and snag your hubby or wife a pair of these. They will fall in love and you can toss out one of those old pairs.

Not only are they like sliding your feet into a buttery cloud, but they are also helping others. For every pair of Bombas socks bought, the company donates a pair to a shelter in need. Socks are one of the most requested items from homeless shelters, and Bombas is working to change that. You can buy a gift for your loved one and help out someone in need.

Tshirt Quilt

This one is a win-win for both people. First, you get to have a quilt that is made up of all memories. Use those old t-shirts you’ve been keeping since high school and have them made into a big, comfy quilt (or do it yourself).

The other key benefit of this is you get to clean out your closet. If you’re anything like us, those t-shirt drawers are BUSTING. We have so many t-shirts we never wear but we can’t get rid of them.

2nd Anniversary Gifts for Your Wife

Don’t worry ladies, we didn’t forget about you. When it comes to anniversary gifts, it seems like there are SO many options. Most of the lists we saw were mostly focused on women.

Cotton Robe

This one does not get enough appreciation. After you get out of the shower, you don’t want to be cold. You can wrap up in a nice, fluffy cotton robe. Go the extra mile and get the robe monogrammed.

Sweatshirt

Who doesn’t love a comfy sweatshirt? They are the best! Honestly, I live in big sweatshirts most of the year. Mitchel has gotten me probably a dozen sweatshirts for birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas, and I’ve loved every single one.

I love big sweatshirts with initials or one from my favorite TV shows (Friends or Gilmore Girls). It’s a sweet and practical gift all at once, plus it’s not going to drain your budget.

Blanket

The both of us are BIG fans of blankets. We have way too many blankets on our blanket ladder. Honestly, it’s one of the best gifts we can get.

When it comes to anniversary gifts, this one has the most options. There are TONS of options on Etsy for custom blankets. You can do anything from having a picture on the blanket to getting your anniversary date and initials.
