Welcome to the blog. Here you're going to find everything from heart-warming marriage stories, to beautiful images of our clients. We want to invite you into our lives.
If you’re getting married in Clemson then you HAVE to check out Sleepy Hollow. In the past couple of years, we’ve been able to photograph weddings at Sleepy Hollow and it’s been wonderful every time.
If you’re engaged and trying to decide where you want to hold your wedding, it can be overwhelming with all of the options. I remember when we were trying to choose a venue and I think I almost went crazy at searching through the dozens of venues.
Well, that’s why we want to help. We want to give you more than just what you find on a wedding site. We want to share OUR experiences of working at these venues, what works well and what might fall short.
One of the areas that need improvement for this venue is the parking. The Sleepy Hollow barn and property have been passed down through generations, which means it’s been there for a while.
The driveway can be a little rough and the parking isn’t a formal parking lot and it is a short little walk to the venue and ceremony spot. Neither of these factors is extremely frustrating or cumbersome.
For most couples and guests, this won’t be a big deal at all, but something you should keep in mind for older guests or any guests with mobility complications. Of course, there is a great spot for dropping off or picking up any guests.
On a similar note, there is no easy way for anyone in a wheelchair or with a walker to get to the Wedding Greens, where a lot of the ceremonies are held. There is only a small set of stairs or over a small hill, but it could create some difficulties depending on your guests.
Why does location matter when choosing a venue? There are two main factors to consider when thinking about the venue’s location.
One is the convenience for you and your guests. If you have guests traveling from out of town or needing a hotel to stay in, you don’t want them to drive 50 miles after the ceremony. Having a place somewhat close by can be nice. This is also true for you and your bridal party. It’s VERY nice to be staying in a room that’s close to the venue. There are several hotels in Clemson for your guests to stay in, with some of them on the lake.
The other is for the day of the wedding while you’re getting ready. There is always a chance someone will run out and grab something from the store or even a snack. While there are not a ton of major store options, there are dollar stores and gas stations nearby, and a Wal-Mart not too far.
While Sleepy Hollow might not be in the middle of a major city like Greenville or Charlotte, it’s close enough to Clemson or even Greenville to still be convenient for vendors, friends, and family.
One of the best things about the outdoor ceremony option at Sleepy Hollow, which offers more than enough space for all your guests (even in COVID times). At Sleepy Hollow, they will provide chairs on their Wedding Greens for up to 150 wedding guests, but the space can fit much more.
Unlike some other outdoor venue options we’ve seen, you won’t have to worry about rocky or uneven ground, which can be frustrating or even a little scary when you have a lot of guests walking around pre and post-ceremony.
After the ceremony, the Wedding Greens can be turned into a great space for cocktail hour, cornhole, or even just a place for kids to play.
If you don’t want to have your wedding outside or the weather doesn’t allow it, the ceremony can also be held inside the barn.
We’ve shot several weddings at Sleepy Hollow in the past several years, and we always enjoy our time there. Not only is it a beautiful venue, but the owners are both wonderful people and will do just about anything to make sure the day is as special as possible.
If you have any questions about Sleepy Hollow wedding venue or about wedding photography, contact us and we would love to chat with you. Even if you already have your photographer picked out, we would love to help in any way possible.
[…] Clemson has ever had. I am kidding, kind of, but gosh, it was beautiful even though it was a cold outdoor ceremony at Sleepy Hollow Barn. The lawn at Sleepy Hollow was just beautiful and the sun peeked through perfectly! The gorgeous […]
